SCREECHING WEASEL

Conceived and birthed in the homogenous suburbs of Chicago, Screeching Weasel have been at it for almost forty years.

Formed in 1986 by lead singer/songwriter Benjamin Foster—who soon took the nom de plume Ben Weasel—Screeching Weasel’s first, self-titled album earned airplay on John Peel’s radio show, a glowing review in NME, and a 10/10 in Sounds. 1988’s BoogadaBoogadaBoogada, released on a small bedroom label out of Chicago, immediately went into heavy rotation on every turntable in the punk universe. It remains the band’s best-selling album and a staple of the punk diet.

Boogada caught the attention of Lookout Records, who made the band their first signing from outside the San Francisco Bay Area. My Brain Hurts, released in 1991, cemented the band’s status as one of the premier bands of the pop-punk genre, along with labelmates Green Day and the Queers.

HAYLEY AND THE CRUSHERS

Hayley and the Crushers are a turbo-charged, glitter-bombed tsunami of bold, bad girl power. Hailing from sunny San Luis Obispo, California, the band made the leap to Detroit in 2022, infusing their sound with a dual-coast cool.

Led by guitarist Hayley Cain and bassist Dr. Cain Esq., these self-proclaimed “poolside glitter punks” caught the adoring gaze of New Wave icon Josie Cotton in 2021.

That year, the band signed with Cotton’s LA-based label, Kitten Robot Records, and released “Modern Adult Kicks” in 2022.

Produced by Paul Roessler, a founding member of LA punk band The Screamers (with producer credits including TSOL, Josie Cotton, and Richie Ramone), “Kicks” showcased the Crushers’ knack for playing halfsies between grit and glitz.

In 2024, these retro-futuristic renegades return with with their “EP Unsubscribe from the Underground.” The tracks highlight the band’s sticky, shimmering melodies and ever-present quirkiness.

Hayley’s pop-punk flair transitions seamlessly from 80s radio-ready daydreams to relentless ferocity, always delivered with a wink and a (hot pink) kiss.

FERAL TACT

Feral Tact is a two-piece band that leaves no music genre untouched. Feral Tact began in 2023 with guitarist Mike Ramsey (age 40) and Max McQuaid (age 14). Mike (previous bands such as Spar and The Downfall) was working with Chicago punk band Sludgeworth as a guitar tech. Max is the son of Sludgeworth (and former Screeching Weasel) drummer Brian McQuaid, and Max would play drums on one song at Sludgeworth’s live shows. Max had performed with his father’s band at Cobra Lounge, Riot Fest, and Bottom Lounge. Mike and Max would sneak off into their rehearsal room at Fort Knox Studios during Sludgeworth practices and create what is now Feral Tact.
