The term “Yachtley Crew” in music defines a sub-category of the polished brand of soft rock that was the most famous genre back in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. The name Yachtley Crew describes a smooth and mellow music that was enjoyed by sipping champagne and partying on yachts. The band began to play tunes at the clubs in a live format in 2016 and on stage they appeared with a completed Yachtley look and an energetic vibe. The bands success is believed to have come as a result of their complete show, dynamic sound, light show, choreographed dancing and their on-stage jokes. The audience feels engaged during their performances and this is quite appealing to all age groups. Besides the bands work in putting shows and performances together, 2 of the band members founded a restaurant and music venue in Atlanta’s Old 4th Ward neighborhood in 2015. A book that explores the whole genre of the band, titled The Oral History of Soft, Smooth Sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s by Greg Prato was released in 2018. Following their successful career with the old hits, the band released their first original single in 2019 “Step”. Their first album “Hot Dads in Tight Jeans” was released in February 2020.
